An electric Audi road trip through Berlin, the Alps, northern Italy, the Riviera, Switzerland and Liechtenstein – with a CarLoft and Amsterdam on the way home.

Audi, the Alps, the Riviera, Liechtenstein and a clear route home
The working plan uses 16 days. We drive without ferries in both directions and combine Berlin, Audi, the Alps, three booked nights in Antibes, Switzerland, Vaduz and Frankfurt with one night in Amsterdam before the monster drive directly home to Oslo.
The main track uses 16 days. After one night in Frankfurt, day 15 starts early—ideally at 06:30–07:00—to provide an afternoon and evening in Amsterdam. After one hotel night, the direct journey home starts at 07:00 on day 16, with dog pickup before the expected Oslo arrival around midnight to 02:00.

What still needs to be decided
A compressed 16-day route is now the main track. Two nights in Ingolstadt create a full Audi day without luggage in the car, while one night in Bolzano replaces separate nights in Sölden and Selva.
16 days
The Sölden night is removed. Timmelsjoch remains on the long day 6 to Bolzano, and Val Gardena is combined with the Lake Garda stage on day 7.
Antibes as the Riviera base
Antibes sits well between Nice and Cannes and works as the base for Monaco, Èze, the Corniche roads and local Riviera time.
Two nights in Ingolstadt
Maritim Hotel Ingolstadt is booked for 23–25 July. Day five is a Friday, and the luggage stays in the hotel room during the full Audi day. Saturday starts very early towards Timmelsjoch and Bolzano; Brenner is used if weather, pass status or progress requires it.
The stage from Antibes
Hotel Federale is booked in Lugano for 31 July–1 August. Andermatt becomes a short drive-through stop next morning before Furka and Grimsel.
Pass day to Vaduz
The fixed route crosses Furka, Grimsel and Susten before Vaduz and the overnight stay in Schaan.
The first five hotels
Best Western Plus Hotel Odense is booked for 20–21 July, Hotel MOA Berlin for 21–23 July, Maritim Hotel Ingolstadt for 23–25 July, Hotel Raffl near Bolzano for 25–26 July and Crowne Plaza Verona Fiera for 26–28 July. The remaining hotels will be decided later.

Practical road guide
Tolls, vignettes and low-emission zones
Most charges are automated or payable by card, but a few registrations must be in place before the car enters the road. This guide is checked against the route and the travel dates, 20 July–4 August 2026.
Get the green sticker before Berlin
Hotel MOA is inside Berlin's low-emission zone. Foreign-registered EVs also need recognised EV identification or an emissions sticker. The safest option is to buy a green Umweltplakette in Flensburg before continuing towards Hamburg and Berlin.

Number-plate payment is the simplest and lowest-cost way across both Danish bridges.
- ØresundGO: DKK 182 per crossing plus a DKK 370 annual fee; one return journey costs DKK 734.
- Great Belt: DKK 205 per crossing with an active number-plate agreement, otherwise DKK 235.
- On the return trip on 4 August, the Gothenburg charge may be up to SEK 60 and foreign vehicles are invoiced through EPASS24.
Germany and Berlin
Passenger cars do not pay German motorway tolls, but the low-emission rules also apply while a car is parked.
- Buy the green Umweltplakette in Flensburg and attach it to the inside of the windscreen.
- The sticker is tied to the registration number and can be used in other German low-emission zones.
- Driving or parking in Berlin without the correct sticker or exemption can result in a EUR 100 fine.
Austria and Timmelsjoch
The A12 through Tyrol requires a vignette, while Timmelsjoch and a possible Brenner crossing are charged separately.
- The EUR 12.80 ten-day vignette is recommended over one day at EUR 9.60; the small difference provides flexibility.
- Timmelsjoch costs EUR 20 one way and is normally open 07:00–20:00. Check its status that morning.
- The Brenner fallback adds a EUR 12.50 A13 section toll, plus the vignette and Italian motorway toll.
Switzerland and Liechtenstein
Lugano, Andermatt and the onward roads towards Vaduz make a Swiss vignette necessary.
- Buy the official e-vignette before entering the motorway; it is valid immediately.
- Switzerland has no short-stay vignette. The 2026 vignette remains valid until 31 January 2027.
- Furka, Grimsel and Susten have no separate toll, but check pass status that morning. Liechtenstein has no separate passenger-car vignette.
Italy and France
Most motorways have traditional toll stations, but northern Italy also has barrier-free tolling.
- Italy: take a ticket on entry, choose a blue card lane on exit and avoid yellow Telepass-only lanes.
- If navigation uses the A36, A59 or A60 around Milan and Como, pay the Pedemontana free-flow toll online within 15 days.
- Avoid camera-controlled ZTL areas in Bolzano, Verona and Sirmione. An EV has no automatic access; a hotel may need to register the plate.
- France: Visa and Mastercard work in the card lanes on the A8. As of 2026, Nice has no Crit'Air restriction for passenger cars.
The Netherlands and final stages
The planned Amsterdam route does not use the Netherlands' relevant free-flow toll road for passenger cars.
- The A24 near Rotterdam is outside the route. If navigation uses it anyway, pay online within 72 hours.
- German motorways remain toll-free for the passenger car on the return journey.
- Finally check that any EPASS24 and Pedemontana passages have been settled.

Tips from Tomas · alternatives considered
Personal advice from my brother retained as background, although Crowne Plaza Verona Fiera is now selected and booked.
Hotel Laurin is a clear personal recommendation. Bellerive has provided good stays in the past, although Tomas felt it lost some of its character after the five-star upgrade – compare the current concept and price before booking.
AH Porticcioli is an interesting apartment base by the lake. Tomas has seen it from the outside but has not stayed there yet.
Relais Madergnago has been tried with good results and offers a quieter apartment base near the beach and town centre.
AQVA Boutique Hotel provided a very good ending to last year's trip. This adults-only hotel is an option if we want to stay close to the Old Town and main attractions.
