EVKX

A detailed electric-vehicle knowledge platform built around a data model that enables exceptionally capable search and comparison.

EVKX – Electric Vehicle Knowledge Exchange

Work on EVKX started in 2022, and the website launched on 6 March 2023. The project began because no existing site covered every electric-vehicle brand at the level of detail I wanted. The name means EV Knowledge eXchange.

The project brings specifications, charging data, comparisons, calculators and technical explanations into one structured platform. It follows a familiar pattern: understand a subject properly, organize the knowledge, and build something useful around it.

The data model at its core

A central part of the work is defining a data model capable of describing an electric vehicle and each individual variant in detail. It covers far more than range and charging power, including the drivetrain, battery, charging curves, dimensions, chassis, interior, driver-assistance systems, equipment and regional differences.

When the information follows a consistent, structured model, the database can provide highly precise searches, filters and comparisons. Users can look for combinations of features and technologies that conventional vehicle databases cannot express.

What it became

What started as a personal knowledge project grew into a large global reference and a structured knowledge base that other systems can also use through the API. The work spans software architecture, data modelling, editorial workflows, translation, search and the practical use of AI.
