Web history
Why I am relaunching rtl.no
An independent personal website is still the best place to connect projects, technical notes, web history and the interests that do not fit anywhere else.
I have been building websites since 1996. The tools have changed repeatedly, but the reason for having a personal place on the web has become stronger rather than weaker.
rtl.no is being rebuilt as a long-term publication and archive: a place for technology, software architecture, gadgets, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, old projects, trance and shorter notes that are worth preserving.
Why an independent site
Projects such as Hjemmekino Web, Electric Has Gone Audi and EVKX began with a desire to understand a subject properly and organize the result. A personal site can connect those projects without forcing them into a résumé, company page or social-media feed.
It also keeps the archive portable. The content is Markdown. Hugo turns it into static pages. GitHub Pages publishes the result without a database or a complicated application stack.
What belongs here
The main subject is technology: software, architecture, web development, AI, gadgets and the systems behind useful products. EV ownership and mobility have their own personal perspective, while EVKX remains the detailed technical reference.
There is also room for an old screenshot, a short observation and a trance set I want to find again. That mix is intentional. It is what makes the site a personal home rather than another narrowly optimized publication.
Built to last
The ambition is not to fill a content calendar. Something belongs here when I built it, use it, understand it, return to it or genuinely care about it.
